The former First Daughter will make her directorial debut with a short film produced by Donald Glover's company, Gilga, he told GQ in an interview published April 4.

As Gilga is brand new production company, Obama will have the honor to work on it's first short film.

Glover elaborated about Obama's involvement. “The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once. 'You’re Obama’s daughter.' So if you make a bad film, it will follow you around.”

Obama is no stranger to production. The then 22-year old landed a writing role on the Glover-produced Amazon series, Swarm. Prior to that, she landed an internship with The Weinstein Company in 2017. And prior to that, Obama interned on HBO's comedy Girls and worked as a production assistant on CBS' Extant.

Glover mentioned that Obama will not have it easy because of her status as the former president's daughter.

"We can't be easy on her just because she's the [former] President's daughter," Donald told Vanity Fair last year. "Nah, she's very down to earth, and cool. So, it's not a problem at all."

Her talent has already shined through, as seen in Swarm's episode five "Girl, Bye," which she co-wrote with Janine. And there's still plenty of more to come.

"I feel like she's just somebody who's gonna have really good things coming soon," Donald told Vanity Fair. "Her writing style is great."
